Yacimiento Punta Mujeres
The Yacimiento Punta Mujeres is a small archaeological site located along the Meloneras seafront promenade in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Gran Canaria. It preserves structures and remains from the island's pre-Hispanic Guanche population.
You'll find the site in the open air, close to the Maspalomas lighthouse, integrated into the coastal surroundings. The remains include stone walls and accumulations that were part of settlements or constructions predating the Castilian conquest. Among the structures you may spot specimens of the Gran Canaria giant lizard, an endemic species that camouflages itself among the rocks and stone piles of the site.
The enclosure is small and can be explored in just a few minutes. Its location makes it an accessible stop if you're walking through the Meloneras area, though the site can also be appreciated from the outside.
