Reserva Natural Especial de los Tilos
The Reserva Natural Especial de los Tilos is located in Moya, in the north of Gran Canaria, and protects one of the island's finest examples of laurel forest. This type of vegetation, typical of the humid zones of the Canary Islands, forms a dense, green woodland that contrasts with the drier volcanic landscape found elsewhere on the island.
The river known as Barranco de los Tilos flows through the reserve, providing the constant moisture that supports ferns, mosses and lauraceous trees. You can explore the area along marked trails that cross the forest and follow the course of the ravine. The GC-704 road provides access to the reserve from Moya.
It is a place of interest for those wishing to discover native Canarian vegetation in a mountain setting. It is advisable to check the condition of the trails before visiting, as some sections may be affected by landslides after rainfall.
