Playa del Fraile stretches along the northern coast of El Hierro, in the municipality of Valverde, as a strip of rounded pebbles surrounded by cliffs and rocky outcrops. Its wild setting and the rock wall enclosing it reveal the island's volcanic geology without human intervention.

Access to this beach is difficult and abandoned. The old paved roads from Roque de La Bonanza and Punta de Ajones fell out of use after the tunnel opened and have received no maintenance. Collapses, frequent rockfalls and prohibition signs mark both routes. Due to its rocky nature and the swell, it is also not suitable for swimming.
