Paso Beach
Playa del Paso is located in the municipality of Yaiza, near the village of El Golfo, in an area where Timanfaya National Park approaches the west coast of Lanzarote. It is a beach of black volcanic sand and gravel, surrounded by the lava field that defines this stretch of the island's coastline.
The landscape you'll find here is shaped by volcanic geography: the dark sand contrasts with the Atlantic Ocean and the lava formations that frame the beach. You can reach it on foot from El Golfo via a coastal trail that crosses the malpaís, a route commonly used by those seeking to explore a largely undeveloped environment.
The beach is part of the protected landscape surrounding Timanfaya, which explains the lack of tourist infrastructure nearby. Access is also possible via dirt tracks connecting the interior with the coast, allowing for a circular route back towards El Golfo.
