El Golfo Beach
Playa el Golfo lies on the western edge of Lanzarote, within the municipality of Yaiza, in an area shaped by the volcanic activity of Los Volcanes Natural Park. Here the landscape combines dark basaltic sands with lava formations that descend to the sea, creating a distinctive geological setting on the island's coast.
Just metres from the beach you'll find Charco de los Clicos or the Green Lake, a lagoon of greenish waters separated from the ocean by a strip of black sand and encircled by the eroded semicircular crater of a volcano. The lake's colour comes from suspended microorganisms and minerals, and is one of the most photographed features along this stretch of coastline.
Access to Playa el Golfo runs along Avenida Marítima from the village of El Golfo, a small coastal settlement also known for its fishing heritage. The area forms part of the protected Natural Park zone, so it retains a natural and lightly developed character.
