La Madera Beach
Playa de la Madera is located in the municipality of Tinajo, on the west coast of Lanzarote. It's a secluded black volcanic sand beach reached via a remote dirt track that crosses the arid landscape typical of this part of the island.
You'll drive for around fifteen to twenty minutes along an unpaved, bumpy road that requires first or second gear in some sections. The isolation is clear: you won't find facilities or services here, and the lack of regular maintenance or surveillance means that debris washed ashore can sometimes accumulate.
The surf is usually strong and currents can be powerful—conditions typical of this stretch of coast exposed to the open Atlantic. These characteristics make it unsuitable for swimming or spending extended time in the water. If you approach the shoreline, it's important to assess sea conditions before entering.
