El Charcón Beach
Playa El Charcón is a small white-sand cove with calm waters located in the municipality of La Oliva, in northern Fuerteventura. Measuring just 325 metres long and about 40 metres wide, it's a secluded spot away from the island's busier tourist areas, perfect if you're after a quiet swim in an uncrowded natural setting.
Getting here isn't straightforward—you'll need to walk over uneven terrain—and the seabed is mostly volcanic rock and stones, so it's a good idea to bring water shoes for comfort. This beach is also known as a naturist spot, in keeping with the tradition of several remote coves around the island.
As an isolated area, you won't find facilities such as beach bars, showers or lifeguards, so plan ahead and bring your own water and shade if it's sunny. El Charcón retains that wild, solitary character that appeals to those who prefer beaches with no infrastructure, within the volcanic landscape typical of northern Fuerteventura.
