In Hermigua, on the north coast of La Gomera, you'll find a natural pool with crystal-clear waters surrounded by four columns about thirty metres high that once formed part of an old loading jetty. This structure was built in the early 20th century to export bananas and tomatoes, and today its concrete pillars remain standing as witnesses to the commercial activity that once defined this corner of the island.
You can reach the pool from the main road, where you can park and walk down to the site. The area preserves remnants of the old pier and allows swimming when the sea is calm. During rough conditions, caution is essential. The setting combines La Gomera's characteristic volcanic landscape with the presence of these industrial ruins, creating a distinctive scene that merges history and nature.
The pool sits on a rocky stretch of coastline where the sea forms natural basins. It's a popular spot for a refreshing dip and to take in the combination of ocean and the vertical remains of the jetty that dominate the landscape.
