Dunas de Maspalomas

The Dunes of Maspalomas stand as one of Gran Canaria's most breathtaking natural treasures, a special nature reserve covering over 400 hectares between Maspalomas Lighthouse and Playa del Inglés. This spectacular coastal desert landscape offers three kilometers of golden dunes constantly reshaped by ocean winds, creating an almost magical scenery in the middle of the Atlantic.

Walking through the dunes is a unique experience that transports you to a small desert by the sea. The nearly two-kilometer route over fine sand takes you from the Riu hotel area to a magnificent beach, passing by the Maspalomas Pond, a crucial wetland for migratory birds stopping on their way to Africa. Many visitors are pleasantly surprised to discover the naturist zone that forms part of this extensive beach.

We recommend starting your visit at the visitor center, where you'll learn about the origin and ecological importance of this unique ecosystem.
