Itinerary
Puerto de Sta Cruz de Tenerife
Your tour begins at the cruise port, where a modern, air-conditioned bus is ready to carry you north toward Tenerife's wild Atlantic coast. Along the way, your local guide shares stories about the island, past and present.
15 minMirador de La Garañona
High on the northern cliffs, Mirador La Garañona makes a breathtaking first stop. Here the rock walls drop more than 200 meters to the Atlantic, and the coast unfolds beneath you in a sweep of cliffs and open ocean, the perfect backdrop for your first photos of the day.
20 minLa Orotava
Next, discover La Orotava, often called the most beautiful town on Tenerife, a graceful hillside town whose historic center has been protected as a heritage site since 1976. Your visit begins with about 45 minutes of guided walking, followed by about 30 minutes of free time. The walk starts at Plaza de la Constitución, named after the Spanish Constitution of 1812 and graced by an early 20th-century bandstand. From the square you see the Iglesia de San Agustín, a 17th-century convent church admired from outside, and the Liceo de Taoro, a 1928 mansion crowning its own terraced gardens. Then head uphill to the Quinta Roja gardens, whose seven terraces climb toward a marble mausoleum built for a Freemason marquis who was refused a church burial. Afterwards, enjoy a coffee or pick up a souvenir.
1.5 hPuerto de la Cruz
End your sightseeing in Puerto de la Cruz, where traditional Canarian houses and lively squares meet a busy little harbor and a welcoming seafront. A guided stroll of about 30 minutes leads to Plaza del Charco, the heart of town, shaded by Indian laurel trees brought from Cuba in 1852, then on to the harbor and the waterfront. Along the way you pass the Casa de la Aduana: dating from 1620, the former customs house is the oldest civil building still standing in town, and you'll admire it from outside. Then you have about an hour to yourself. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant (at your own expense), browse the shops or wander along the sea.
1.8 hPuerto de Sta Cruz de Tenerife
After a day of clifftop views and historic streets, sit back as the bus takes you to the cruise port. Your tour is built around your ship's timetable, and we guarantee you'll be back at the port well before departure. Head back on board with a camera full of photos and new stories to share.
