Taganana

Taganana

Cities, towns and neighborhoodsWhat to see and do

Taganana is a small hamlet located in the northeastern tip of Tenerife, within the Anaga Rural Park massif. It belongs administratively to the municipality of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and is surrounded by steep mountains, deep ravines, and the characteristic vegetation of this ancient laurel forest area. Its name is of Guanche origin, evidence of the settlement that existed here before the Castilian conquest.

The hamlet sits in a rugged landscape, among cultivated slopes and cliffs that descend to the sea. Here you'll find the church of Nuestra Señora de las Nieves, one of the village's main architectural landmarks. The access road winds through peaks and natural viewpoints that offer views over the Atlantic and the volcanic relief of Anaga.

Taganana is also a starting or finishing point for several hiking routes that cross the rural park, connecting hamlets, old paths, and laurel forests. The area features dark sand beaches and rough waters, typical of the northern coast of the island.
