Punta del Hidalgo

Punta del Hidalgo

What to see and doIconic Buildings

Punta del Hidalgo, also known as Punta Hidalgo or simply La Punta, is a coastal settlement located in the far northeast of Tenerife, within the municipality of San Cristóbal de La Laguna. This small fishing village stretches along the Atlantic, in a landscape where the sea meets volcanic rock formations and cliffs that define the entire northern coast of the island.

Here you'll find natural pools carved by the waves into the volcanic rock, offering a sheltered spot to swim when the open sea gets rough. Playa del Roquete marks the start of the coastal path known as Camino de la Costa or Camino de San Juanito, a route that follows the shoreline and lets you explore some of the most authentic stretches of Tenerife's north coast, including the area around the Punta del Hidalgo lighthouse.

The village retains its quiet character and ties to traditional fishing, far from the bustle of the larger tourist resorts. It appeals to those seeking volcanic landscapes and a more direct connection with the ocean.
