Playa de Palos

BeachesOutdoors / Nature

Playa de Palos is located in an urban area of Gran Canaria, with houses perched on the edge of a ravine and views of the surrounding coastal cliffs. This dark sand beach consists of two bays where you can walk a good distance along the shore or venture further inland when the tide allows.

The surf here is usually strong, with waves that form whirlpools and attract surfers looking for the challenge of the Atlantic. If you just want to dip your feet, pay attention to the rhythm of the tides: periodically, larger waves roll in and can catch you off guard. The setting is simple, without extensive facilities, though you will find a shower available.

It's a spot frequented by those walking their dogs, especially in one of the two bays. The proximity to the residential area and the nature of the surf give it a more local, everyday character than a tourist one.
