Paseo de Canarias

What to see and doCities, towns and neighborhoods

The Paseo de Canarias runs through the centre of Firgas and consists of two sections honouring the entire archipelago. In the upper half, known as Paseo de las Islas, you will find tiled benches where each hand-painted panel represents one of the islands with scenes of its landscapes, traditions and emblems. It is an artistic project that takes you across the archipelago without leaving this street.

The lower half is called Paseo de Gran Canaria and features a terraced cascade running down the length of the street. Along the way you will see ceramic murals dedicated to the municipalities of the island, depicting vernacular architecture, local nature and traditional crafts. The sound of water accompanies you as you walk through this open-air gallery.

Firgas is located in the north of Gran Canaria, in the midlands known for their water wealth. This promenade was born from that historical link with water, an element present throughout the ceramic decoration and fountain design. You can walk it at your own pace to appreciate the tilework and the attention given to every detail.
