Mirador del Balcón
The Mirador del Balcón overlooks one of the steepest and most dramatic stretches of Gran Canaria's western coast, in the municipality of La Aldea de San Nicolás. From its natural balcony you can gaze down at the cliffs known as the Dragon's Tail, a succession of sheer rock walls plunging vertically into the Atlantic and forming a jagged, imposing profile on the horizon.
The viewpoint sits beside the GC-200 road, the section known as the Andén Verde, a winding route carved into the rock that links the island's northwest coast and offers continuous views over the sea and volcanic geology. The Dragon's Tail formation owes its name to the serrated silhouette of the cliffs, shaped by erosion and the volcanic activity that sculpted this wild corner of Gran Canaria.
Here you'll find a natural stopping point to take in the sheer scale of the coastal landscape, marked by the contrast between green hillsides and the deep blue of the ocean. The elevated position of the viewpoint also allows you to appreciate the dramatic drop and the near-total absence of buildings along this stretch of coastline.
