Mirador de Jinama

The Mirador de Jinama is one of those breathtaking spots that makes El Hierro truly special. Perched on the northern rim of the ancient volcanic caldera, this viewpoint offers spectacular vistas of El Golfo valley and Frontera spreading below. The striking contrast between the lush green valley and the deep blue Atlantic Ocean creates a landscape worth every meter of the climb.
Beyond being a privileged panoramic point, Mirador de Jinama marks the starting point of one of the island's most emblematic hiking trails, the historic La Mudada path that descends to Frontera and La Candelaria church. This traditional route once connected the plateau with the valley below. The viewpoint features well-maintained facilities and a small nearby hermitage dedicated to Virgen de la Caridad. Do bring warm layers though, as wind and fog are frequent companions at this altitude, but when it clears, the visual spectacle more than makes up for it.
