El Río
Playa del Río lies at the southern tip of La Palma, in the municipality of Fuencaliente de La Palma, nestled beneath steep cliffs in a remote volcanic area. This is a dark volcanic sand cove with no facilities of any kind, accessible only via a narrow, unpaved track that descends for roughly thirty minutes from the main road.
The access route features tight bends and uneven terrain, so a four-wheel-drive vehicle and some experience on rough roads are advisable. The beach remains isolated, surrounded by volcanic rock formations and receiving few visitors, making it a secluded spot on La Palma's coast, well off the usual tourist routes.
Both the descent and the return require time and care. You will find no facilities, natural shade, or drinking water in the area, so it's worth weighing the effort involved before planning your visit.
