Playa El Callao is a small rocky beach located in the municipality of Arona, in southern Tenerife. Unlike the island's typical golden or black sand beaches, here you'll find a stretch of coastline made up of pebbles and rock formations that characterize this part of the Atlantic shore. Access is from Calle la Carnada, and you can walk down to the coast both day and night, using the side paths that border the beach and serve as lookout points toward the ocean.

The geography of the place lends itself more to contemplation than to traditional swimming. The rocks can be slippery and the seabed irregular, so it's advisable to bring water shoes if you plan to get close to the water. The pathways and rocky outcrops offer spots from which to watch the horizon, especially at sunset, when the sun drops into the ocean and bathes the coast in warm tones. It's a quiet corner, away from the crowds of the large tourist beaches in southern Tenerife.
