Carved by the ocean over millennia, Cueva Bonita stands as one of the best-kept secrets along La Palma's western coastline. This sea cave opens to the Atlantic through two contrasting entrances: the northern mouth spans nearly 17 meters wide, while the southern one barely exceeds 9 meters. Inside, the space expands into an impressive chamber over 80 meters across, where light filters through creating plays of shadow and reflection on the dark volcanic rock walls.

Local oral tradition in Tijarafe tells that ancient inhabitants used this natural formation as a strategic refuge against pirates who raided the Canarian coasts. According to legend, villagers would lure invaders toward the large entrance while stealthily escaping through the smaller opening, thus evading capture. Beyond the tale, this grotto has become an essential stop on maritime excursions tracing the Palmeran shoreline.

Accessible only from the sea, the cave reveals itself through kayak tours or boats departing from Porís de Candelaria. Depending on wave conditions, visitors can venture deeper into its interior, where the echo of water and the stillness of time invite contemplation of a landscape sculpted by ocean forces.
