Auditorio Alfredo Kraus
The Auditorio Alfredo Kraus is located on Carretera del Rincón, by the sea, in the Las Canteras area of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. This building, opened in 1997 and designed by architect Óscar Tusquets, is named after the Gran Canarian tenor Alfredo Kraus.
Its architecture, combining concrete and glass volumes, recalls volcanic rock formations and blends into the city's coastal profile. The building houses two main halls that host concerts, opera, ballet, and other artistic events. The Symphonic Hall has capacity for over a thousand people, while the Chamber Hall is a smaller space for more intimate performances.
Its position facing the Atlantic Ocean means that some interior areas offer views of the sea and the seafront promenade. The auditorium is part of the capital's urban landscape and stands a short distance from Las Canteras beach.
