Palmetum Jardin Botánico

El Palmetum in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is a botanical garden which is 120.000 square metres (12 hectares) and it is specialised on palms (Arecaceae). El Palmetum is the theme park which has the biggest collection of palms in Europe. This park is located in the mountain whose name is that of El Lazareto. In the past such a mountain was a dumping site, however, at the present day it has been set up so that people can use it. El Palmetum is also the biggest green surrounding situated in the city centre.
