Plaza Weyler
Weyler Square / Plaza Weyler owes its name to the Spanish general Valeriano Weyler. This man was a soldier who became a captain general in the Canary Islands and he was the person that ordered Palacio de la Capitanía General de Canarias to be built. Palacio de la Capitanía General de Canarias is located next to Weyler Square / Plaza Weyler. This square was built in 1893 and its central fountain which is 5.8 feet high stands out. It is shaped like a pyramid and at the top of the fountain there are two statues which symbolize two children. Such children are holding a wreath of flowers.
