Playa de Garcey is one of those wild corners of Fuerteventura that makes you feel like you've discovered a well-kept secret. Located in the south of the island, near Pájara, this remote and solitary beach is nestled between impressive rocky cliffs and offers breathtaking panoramic views. Access is via a dirt track of a few kilometers, but in good condition for any car, adding that touch of adventure without complications.

The most fascinating feature of Garcey is the wreckage of the American Star, a former ocean liner that ran aground in these waters in 1994 and was quite a visual spectacle for years, though today barely any visible remains exist. The beach combines sand, rocks and pebbles, creating a natural and rugged landscape perfect for disconnecting from the world. The waves here can be strong with intense surf, so rather than for swimming it's ideal for contemplating the sea, bodyboarding or simply relaxing among the cliffs. It's the perfect refuge for those seeking absolute tranquility and nature in its purest form.
