The Ermita de Nuestra Señora de la Consolación is a hidden historical gem nestled among the banana plantations of El Guincho, in Garachico. Built in 1578 by the influential De Ponte merchant family, this small chapel served as their family mausoleum and spiritual refuge during turbulent times. After the volcanic eruption that devastated Garachico in 1706, Franciscan monks found temporary shelter here, turning the adjoining house into their provisional home for years.

Today, the chapel stands peacefully in the Malpaís area, surrounded by traditional Canarian houses and the Charco de la Consolación pond. Visitors who venture here consistently praise the tranquil atmosphere and beautiful landscapes of this rural corner. Open only on Tuesday evenings, it's a special spot for those seeking to connect with Tenerife's deep history away from crowded tourist routes and discover an authentic piece of the island's heritage.
