Casa De Los Capitanes

The house, so known as the one of Alvarado-Bracamonte, was set up by the Governor, the Corrégidor and War captain of Islands of Palma and of Tenerife, Jacques de Alvarado-Bracamonte, who settles down and lives in La Laguna between 1624 and 1635. So the building is known as House of Captains Généraux to have lived in it, between 1705 and 1723, six Captains Généraux of the Canary Islands. From the construction point of view, the outside of the building is characterized by the work of the masonry a stone cutting. The stone, of red volcanic calcareous tuff, is used in determined parts of the building. It will give an architectonic distinction, especially by its placement in the facade, by being the most distinctive its stony facade and the angles of the building. The irregular distribution of hollows is an indicator of its construction in miles six hundred. The ample front-roof of tile and the esgrafiado of Spanish- Muslim Tradition underline the distinction of the building. The House of Captains Généraux declares itself Good of the Cultural Interest, with the category of monument of local interest, on November 11th, 1981.
